This was an alternative universe/setting for Ila and Idris, as a one-off for the artbook project #Hardcover. A project that pulled me, after some idiot got angry about my art and scared the publisher. Oh well--maybe I'll redo this concept and find an artbook publisher that won't bow to weird moralists online. Or I'll make my own artbook. :)

These are two illustrations that were meant to be printed side by side in the book. Not quite a diptych, but I figure they compliment each other nicely enough.

Ila has albinism, and her father Idris has gigantism--she's not small, he's just very big. - This one is special to me in a way I can't exactly describe. I think it's a culmination of factors, and one of those factors is a shift full-circle to my interests from over a decade ago. I'd discarded those interests a lot time ago to be more subconsciously palatable to other people, in an insincere attempt to figure myself out. When I uh. Already had a sense of what I liked, it was just easy for me to convince myself to let go of it for the implied benefit of other people's comfort. This piece--and by extension the entirety of Her Fire --are also an accidental, but fitting, homage/love letter to the book Necrophilia Variations by Supervert . Mid Morning: Father/daughter Erotic Incest Art

Ila has albinism, and her father Idris has gigantism--she's not small, he's just very big. - This is an in-spirit redo of Late Afternoon from two and a half years ago. Except this time it's set in the Smoke and Silk duet's setting, and not the now-abandoned Victorian setting. I really had so much fun with this--I didn't realize just how much more detail I add to my more recent paintings until I compared the two of these illustrations side-by-side, haha. And I was worried that this one would be boring. Also extremely pleased with the color on this one, too. I've often been praised for my super saturated, vibrant color in my paintings, and it's always bothered me. Not that people compliment me, but the color itself has always been something I was self conscious about because I never knew what the hell I was doing and it was never all that deliberate.
